Day 1

So I started tracking my calories on CalorieKing.com. Hopefully it will keep me in check as to how much food I'm consuming and balancing it out with exercise. It has been pretty easy so far today tracking because I have the day off from work....we'll see how it goes as my days get busier!

I started out my day with half of a key lime larabar to give me some fuel for my 30 minute run on my treadmill down in the basement:
After my jaunt I had some real breakfast - I mixed a packet of Kashi maple oatmeal with a banana and added some peanut butter chips. I also had a big cup of coffee w/ chocolate almond milk and agave syrup (unpictured):

For lunch I had a cup of soup - corn chipotle bisque - very yummy and filling. On the side I had an Ezekiel english muffin topped with some kalamata olive spread. It looks kind of gross but it was amazing!!!
Unpictured is an ounce of Green & Black organic mint dark chocolate - I need to get used to taking pictures of everything I eat.

I then went to the gym and took a Body Pump class - this class is unbelievable...I really need to get into a routine of going to the class maybe twice a week. I don't have the patience to bust out strength training on my own - I know, that needs to change. I'll start slowly by trying to make it to Body Pump. When I came home I though about making something really yummy for dinner - my husband is working late, so I was on my own.

I started by making a sauce for this store bought pumpkin ravioli I had on hand. In the sauce was 1/2T olive oil, sage, sauteed spinach, chicken broth and a cup of white wine....I attempted to "reduce" it....it didn't work too well but it still tasted great!
Below is the finished product with some parmesan on top and a glass of Red on the side.

So far so good - my calories "netted" at a little under 1200 so I call that a great day. As I move on I definitely need to pay more attention to nutrition and getting the right balance of protein carbs and fat - I think I lacked on the protein a little today. I'll try again tomorrow!

It begins right now....as I'm enjoying a nice glass of red and pondering what life would be like 30 lbs lighter. I'm going to do it slowly and in a healthful manner. No quick fixes. I'm going to try to run 4 to 5 days a week while eating apx. 1500 calories a day. I can do this....even throughout the holidays and even though I have failed so many times before. Watch me. Pictures to come tomorrow.
